About Us

Saharan Arts is based in Bristol in the UK. It is run by myself, Kate Morgan and my husband Andy. We have both travelled widely in the Sahara and Andy's interest covers not just jewellery; he was one of the organisers of the Festival in the Desert in 2002 which was held near the ancient earth city of Timbuktu. Andy is also involved in the management of a Tuareg band of musicians, Tinariwen, and is a journalist specialising in the music and politics of North Africa.

At Saharan Arts we aim to develop direct links with crafts men and women from the Sahara and sell their goods in the UK and Europe under the principles of fair trade. At present we source jewellery in Mali and Niger, and in the future we hope to extend our range to Mauritania and Morocco. Eventually, we hope it to cover all Saharan arts from carpets and leatherwork to ceramics and cloth.

If you have any questions, please do ask and if we can't help, we may know someone who can.

Regards,

Kate Morgan
